J. Shay

Welcome to Mrs. Shay's webpage. I teach the Pottery I, Pottery II, and Putty 3D classes.

In Pottery I, students will learn the basics of the pottery world. Students are expected to know the basic vocabulary in order to work with clay. They will be then creating a Pinch Pot, Coil Pot, Slab Pot, Drape Pot, a Pot in a Pot, and a Cultural Lantern.

Pottery II students must have successfully completed Pottery I in order to take this class. This class is an advanced pottery level. After proficiently completing vocabulary, students will be creating a set of Maracas, a Teapot, a functional tabletop Water Fountain, a hanging Planter, and a Mishima Pot.

Putty 3D students will be hands-on creating three dimensional works of art using a variety of mediums. Some assignments include: Icoshedrons, Cultural Masks, Count Your Blessing or "Be Thankful"  Bowls, Architectural Letters, Found Object Sculptures.
