Hello! I am the librarian for Shikellamy High School and Shikellamy Middle School. The best part of this job is the fact that I get to see my students mature as they move from a new seventh grader to a senior in high school. The 2015-2016 year is my eleventh year at Shikellamy. Prior to this, I spent ten years as the Head of Children's Services at the Public Library for Union County. I am graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School, along with Mr. Balonis of the Math Department (although he is much older than me). I received a Bachelor's degree in History from Penn State University; I bleed Blue and White! I received my Instructional I teaching certificate through coursework in Susquehanna Univiersity's Teacher Intern Program. I received my Master's Degree in School Library and Informational Technologies from Mansfield University. I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Library Media. There are sixteen NBCTs in the Shikellamy School District and I am, at present, the only secondary teacher in this group. I love research and enjoy teaching research skills to students. Reading is a hobby, so working in a library is a good choice for me. Aside from the library, I work with Peer Leadership in the high school. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, gardening, Penn State sports, and my pets. At the present time I have two children in college and three dogs at home. (This includes a new puppy!) I hold memberships in the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association, Kiwanis, and the Nittany Lion Club. I am a Brave by choice! If you have any questions about the library or our collections, please contact me: reichenbachj@shikbraves.org |
